4th Annual (2019) Frozen Turkey Breasts Food Donations for CORA Families

During our November 18, 2019 community-donated food collection for food-challenged residents in Chatham County, NC who are served by the CORA Food Pantry in Pittsboro, residents lined up in their vehicles at the parking lot of The Gathering Place to drop off the frozen portion of this month’s donation. In just 30 minutes (11:00 to 11:30), we collected 110 turkey breasts (29 more than last year).

The portion of their donations that we collected earlier in the morning in our 28 neighborhoods contained additional traditional Thanksgiving-related foods.

Thanks to the generosity of village residents, the total November collection of 3,867 pounds (1.93 tons) will go a long way toward helping families served by CORA to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday.

We want to say a very special THANK YOU to our neighbors. You are awesome!

For the November 12th, 2018 community food donation collection, we will again be collecting frozen turkey breasts for CORA families. We will collect your monthly food donations the same we do each month; however, you should personally deliver your frozen turkey breast donations to The Gathering Place parking lot (in front of the building), between 11:00 AM and 11:30 AM on Monday, November 12th, where we will have a truck waiting to accept them and deliver them to CORA.

We have to collect the frozen turkey breasts separately. Thanks!!

June 2017 Food Collection Third Largest in PORCH Fearrington Six Year History

On June 26, 2017, we delivered 2,844 pounds of food to CORA, our largest June collection by far and the third largest in the history of PORCH Fearrington.  The June total is even more impressive considering that summer collections tend to be lower and the two higher collections occurred during the holiday months of November and December when donations are usually high.  A special thank you to Kathy Donohoe, the new coordinator for Langdon Place, where the June 2017 collection was much larger than in the past.  We really appreciate Kathy’s extra effort!

Thanksgiving Turkey Breasts for CORA Food Pantry

thanksgiving-1We deliver all our monthly food donation collections to the CORA Food Pantry in Pittsboro, NC (the county seat for Chatham County).

This month, CORA contacted PORCH-Fearrington to ask if some of our residents would be willing to provide frozen turkey breasts for family Thanksgiving dinners.

We set up a special drop-off site for these frozen offerings. While our neighborhood collection teams were making their usual rounds to pick-up regular food items in neighborhoods, 91 village residents also drove to the specially designated place to drop-off their frozen turkey breasts

This response was far above what we expected. Together with CORA, we want to express our deep appreciation for this wonderful extra holiday gift. Eighty-nine families who might not have been able to afford such a holiday item will be able to do so this season.
